Oris has given its popular Aquis Date model (the one that went back to the drawing board last year for a bit a redesign) with a fruity new color which is; wait for it - cherry red.

Not exactly a color you’d most associate with mens’ diver’s watches is it – nail polish, lipstick maybe; still it’s the 2020s so why not.

Btw this isn’t the first time that Oris have added a splash of culinary flavoring to one of their Aquis Date model’s either; anyone for MINT?

I think I’ll stick with OCEANIC BLUE, please – something about the name – just sounds so cool ;)

The new Aquis Cherry red is based on the latest Aquis Date so therefor has a 41.5mm in diameter Stainless steel case which is water-resistant to 300 meters.

Contrasting against the watch’s new sun-ray effect cherry red dial is a textured, matte-finished steel diver’s bezel which replaces the usual ceramic one.

Meanwhile power comes from an Oris Cal. 733 which is based on Sellita’s ubiquitous 2824 alternative, the Cal. SW 200-1 automatic movement with 38hrs of power-reserve.

The Aquis Date Ref. 01 733 7766 4158 8 22 05 PEB is available now. It has a Swiss retail price of 2’000CHF.

Thoughts? Is this the cherry on top of the cake or do we need a second bite at the proverbial?

If you thought the Aquis Date was almost perfect safe for the addition of an eye popping new dial option – then yes.

But if like me, cheery red doesn’t do it for you – then Oris are gonna’ have to work harder to get an Aquis Date on our wrists. How about something a little more badass like commando green or assassin black?
