I don't own one, but they're a sister company to Frederique Constant, and they're notable for having in-house movements at a fairly affordable price. If the quality is anything like Frederique Constant, then I would say that they offer a quality product.

Nice looking Alpina Chronograph 4 watch. Has a case shape with similar looks of the Omega Planet Ocean which is a plus to me.

That Alpina Chronograph 4 seems to use a AL-860 AUTOMATIC CHRONOGRAPH.

According to their website the AL-860 is based on a Sellita SW500 movement and quoting their website

http://www.alpina-watches.com/swiss-watch/alpina-company-calibers_81.aspx

<<Based on the Sellita SW500 chronograph movement, the AL-860 chronograph calibre has been modified by Alpina to feature a "Bi-Compax" counter configuration for maximum readability, suitable for professional aviation requirements. Thoughtfully designed by our engineers and machined in Geneva on our CNC machines, this modification is then carefully assembled in our Plan-les-Ouates workshops by our team of skilled watch makers.>>

My guess is that the modification of the calibre is made at Sellita according to Alpina specifications.

I'm tracking a couple on eBay, figure that would be a cheaper introduction to the brand. They look fantastic though.
