Remember the good ol’ days of wearing dinner-plate-sized watches? 48mm was no biggie back then, but these days 48mm seems almost monstrous –
that is unless your watch accompanies on your many adventures above the clouds and below the waves where a large face can be of huge benefit providing at a glance time-reading.

With its 48mm Stainless steel case, unidirectional ratcheted diver’s bezel, and black dial, the Super Avenger Chronograph 48 makes a big entrance for 2019 where it heads up Breitling’s redesigned Avenger collection.

Equipped with a self-winding Breitling Caliber 13 mechanical chronograph movement, it has a power reserve of approximately 48 hours.

Its hands and indexes are coated with SLN, while its sub-dials are located in the 12 o’clock, 6 o’clock, and 9 o’clock positions and a date window at 3 o’clock.

The COSC-certified chronometer is water resistant to 300 meters. The Super Avenger Chronograph 48 is available with an anthracite leather military strap with either a pin or folding buckle or with a stainless-steel bracelet with a folding clasp.

The Night Mission variant of the Super Avenger Chronograph 48 has a strong but lightweight 48 mm case crafted from DLC-coated Titanium, presented on a blue leather military strap with either a pin or folding buckle.

Its Arabic numerals set against the blue dial recall the stenciled numbers on the decks of aircraft carriers.

Thoughts? Actually 48mm is still very wearable; yes, compared to those piddly sub 40mm wristwatches that the dainty-wristed, elitist watch-snobs are currently favoring –
it’s a bit of a bruiser but don’t forget you can get more or less the exact same watch in 43 or 45mm variants.
